A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF SCARDINOISM

In the past, invaders were seen as villains and torturers of innocents. This was due to the propaganda and domination of the social arena by defenders and effectively eliminated any credibility to the thoughts and ideals of raiders, with the obvious exception of the confined sphere of the 'raider community'. Scardinoism sought to resist this social bias against the raider cause by interacting with neutrals in their home regions and actively socializing and partaking in activities in the feeder regions. It currently seeks to continue the progression of the raider cause not simply by successfully invading regions but also by improving the reputation of raiders through diplomacy and social networking. A Scardinoist, a believer and practitioner of Scardinoism, actively pursues the improvement of the reputation of raiders in general by conversing often with neutrals and even defenders, with a special emphasis on the influential feeder regions, and makes themselves an example of an intelligent, dignified, and honorable soldier and diplomat.

THE TRAITS OF A SCARDINOIST 1. Honor
A Scardinoist must be sure to abide by the rule of Honor. This includes respecting your opponent, avoiding deception, strict loyalty to your comrades, an avoidance of unneeded oppression of native inhabitants of successfully invaded regions, and the maintenance of a cool nature.

a. Respecting Your Opponent
Your opponent, the common defender, is nothing more than an equal and opposite reflection of the common invader. Though this soldier may actively provide resistance to your objectives, you should never respond with sincere insults or words of hatred. It is even appropriate to commend your opponent when they have bested you by way of their own discipline, so long as their work did not violate the rules of Honor. Dishonor should never be commended.

b. Avoiding Deception
A Scardinoist does not deviate from the truth in order to bring benefit to themselves. This means a Scardinoist does not spy or involve themselves in lying to fellow raiders, opponents, or neutral parties.

c. Strict Loyalty
Loyalty is extremely important to the true Scardinoist. This simply means that a Scardinoist does not criticize a fellow raider openly without first attempting to resolve the issue with them in private, avoiding embarrassment of a fellow raider, or otherwise purposely providing resistance to the objectives of a raider that is aligned with the rules of Honor.

d. Avoidance of Unneeded Oppression
Native inhabitants of a successfully invaded region remain the rightful owners of the region, regardless of the reigning delegate. Native inhabitants should be given fair warning at the beginning of occupation that resisting the objectives of the reigning delegate will result in removal. After this has been done, natives should only be forcefully relocated when such relocation is necessary to preserve the raider's seat at the delegacy.

e. Cool Nature
The maintenance of a cool nature means communicating clearly without the unneeded expression of anger, frustration, sadness, worry, or even excessive elation. A Scardinoist should communicate with no greater or lesser enthusiasm when they are at their highest level of success than when they are at their lowest level of misfortune. A true Scardinoist recognizes that an enemy that is aware of their anger knows to be prepared and an enemy that is aware of their elation knows to attack. Furthermore, a cool nature is more easily respected, seen as a sign of mature intellect, and can act as a calming factor in a time of distress.

2. Pride
A Scardinoist takes pride in themselves and their reputation. Scardinoism requires the maintenance of an image that is generally acceptable and respectable by the NationStates community as a whole while keeping a clearly defined personality to distinguish themselves from others. A Scardinoist does not belittle themselves or their organization nor knowingly takes part in activities that are less than appropriate for a raider of their status.

3. Charisma and Confidence
A Scardinoist should always keep their communications clear and articulate while demonstrating a solid trust and confidence in their beliefs and ambitions. A Scardinoist's resolution should never be seen as wavering. Raiding is, by its very nature, proactive and strong. So shall be a Scardinoist.

IN CLOSING

The principles of Scardinoism require that the Scardinoist be seen as a specimen of the pinnacle of, not simply the raider community, but the NationStates community as a whole. They should keep their name and reputation at a respectable status at all times in order to optimize their influence and ability to further the raider cause. A true Scardinoist knows that the pen is mightier than the sword but the quill is damned near irresistible.
In this world there are two kinds of people: those with loaded guns and those who dig. I dig.
