Comrades of the Coalition,

Reactions such as this looks like a bad joke”, “This can not be true”, “Uh … what?! were collected in light of the announcement delivered by former Prime Minister Byiah of The West Pacific to The People of The West Pacific on the 3rd of November, marking the foundation of the short-lived West Pacific Dominion. He declared that in light of waning activity and lack of interest, the “Chosen” had declared the West Pacific constitutional government […] dissolved, the constitution dismissed, and the region placed in a state of Martial Law – before heralding the new age of “The West Pacific Dominion”, centered around a 10 manned oligarchy as opposed to The Council of The West Pacific and the Grand Assembly. Byiah concluded his statement by imposing an endorsement cap in the region, warning the region that any bid for the delegacy [would] be met with the strongest possible consequences and linked the readers to a new forum for The West Pacific shortly after proclaiming himself “Consul of The Dominion”.

Discussions flared up in all corners of the NationStates community, parallels were drawn with the North Pacific Directorate incident and prominent members of The People’s Republic of The Pacific criticised the two-faced hypocrisy of the ADN Director in her support for The West Pacific Dominion, despite previous pledges to uphold democracy, and the installation of the Nasicournian Gasponia – who had held no position in The West Pacific prior to this incident – in the so called “Core.” EuroSoviets, founder of our sister-region the Allied States of EuroIslanders and Commander of the RLAF established an embassy in the hopes of helping him and [the Allied States of EuroIslanders] to understand the nature of the West Pacific Dominion and received a comparable amount of criticism. Noted though, was the falsification of the facts by the Pacific News Network where Sir Paul claimed that the ASE had delivered a show of support of the Dominion and later retracted it – although an analysis of the discussions held in the Assembly of the Allied States confirmed the contrary. Xhadam, General Secretary of the Red Liberty Alliance and Strategos Nemonos of the Allied States of EuroIslanders ( Commanding Officer of the Red Guardians ) reminded the readers of the Pacific News Network that the ASE itself offered no support of any kind to the WPD and that The ASE and its reactions were uniformly against the WPD both before and after the ADN interference became clear. The Red Factions, Minister of Military Affairs of The Proletariat Coalition and dual-citizen in the Allied States of EuroIslanders explained: The establishment of an embassy to The West Pacific Dominion was not sanctioned by the Assembly of the Allied States of EuroIslanders whose authority is supreme on all matters. Dobbyniania, Ministerial Council member of The Proletariat Coalition and citizen of the Allied States of EuroIslanders known for his upfront behaviour and radical views dropped the following sentences in the Assembly of the Allied States: Anybody want to head over there and endorse the regent? These dictatorial corpsefuckers need to be smashed and I'm not waiting for others to murder them for me. The West Pacific having had a long-standing treaty relationship with the Allied States of EuroIslanders known as the Jeelik-Daningrad Declaration immediately visited the Assembly of the Allied States to present their opinions and to advice their allies on the course of action to take. The relevant clauses in the Jeelik-Daningrad Declaration and The Blacksheep Alliance were activated and the RLAF ordered in to answer the Minister of Defence Dilber’s call to move in and endorse the regent Eli/Wickedly Evil People in order to oust the Dominion and reclaim control of The West Pacific.

Sections of the ADN elite and supporters of the West Pacific Dominion later branded EuroSoviets himself as responsible for the precipitation of the events. Blackbird fired the opening shot in the Central Soviet and explained that Eurosoviets decided to start leaking this information when he learned of it yesterday.This precipitated them[The WPD] to start last night. Particularly before they had brought everyone into it that they had wanted. This sentiment was shared by others within the ADN in particular. Grenval/Universal Acceptance, ADN Deputy Secretary of Defense and member of the Central Soviet of the RLA explained that he believed that had the leak not occurred, this reform movement might have been carried out in a democratic manner, which is why [he] said [give] the Core a chance, but highlighted that only a maximum of 24 hours should be given. EuroSoviets explained to the Voice of The Proletariat: One really has to laugh. I found out well after Pope Hope and her bootlickers about the decision to implement the WPD. I spoke with several people about the new organisation, in order those being Blackbird, Dilber, Xha'dam, The Red Factions, Unlimited, Sixguns, Moo-Cows and it was at that point Blackbird began to say I had leaked information, etc etc. One has to ask; is leaking the information regarding an impending dictatorship not the act of a friend to the West Pacific? In the Central Soviet, EuroSoviets finally retorted by saying: I did the right thing and your attempt to embarrass me in the Central Soviet is purely pathetic. Prominent members in The West Pacific backed up EuroSoviets and re-affirmed their personal friendship towards him and their support of the Allied States of EuroIslanders in various statements given in public in the Assembly of the Allied States but also in private to this reporter. Berhampore, former Delegate of The West Pacific delivered a plea for help, introduced with the words As an old friend of this region and of you, EuroSoviets, I am asking for your help. He was seconded by Dilber and Neandertron, the latter being a former Minister of Defence, the former being the longest serving Prime Minister of The West Pacific and current Minister of Defence. Eli, former regent of The West Pacific and recently installed Delegate, denounced the authoritarian methods used by the “Core” and the permission seeking of the “Core” of the ADN, carried out to ensure that the power grab would go uncontested. When confronted with the accusations that the ADN would have supported the WPD through the actions of Pope Hope, Blackbird, ADN Secretary of State answered: The ADN took no position regarding this conflict. We adoped a policy of "wait and see", a policy which, in hindsight, we believe was vindicated. The ADN will be releasing a statement clarifying what our position was. Dilber however, who in addition to his positions in The West Pacific holds the position of Blackbird's Deputy in the ADN, explained that he stood on both sides of the arguments, and expressed the belief that if the information had not been leaked, things would not have evolved the way they did. Noted though, was his gratitude towards EuroSoviets, for actively supporting the rebellion. Eli/Wickedly Evil People thanked The Assembly of the Allied States on behalf of The West Pacific for defending [The West Pacific] against the coup by former government leaders. When asked about the state of RLA – TWP relations, Dilber answered: Definitly very friendly, The ASE and the RLA offered support as stated in the treaties and I thank them for that. Others went as far as saying that their esteem and respect for the Allied States of EuroIslanders had risen.

Moo-cows with Guns, Prime Minister of the Equilism Commonwealth was approached with an invitation to join the “Core” but declined the invitation. He shared his thoughts with us in the following words: the stated intentions of the group were not malicious or inherently wrong or evil. But when any group usurps the will of the people, there is bound to be a strong reaction both internally and externally. I am confident TWP can recover for this and will do so with honor and dignity. He further elucidated by pointing out that what has occurred in TWP since then is a stellar show of defender unity. Currently, there are forces from the E-Army, RLA, PD, PRP, NPA, RIA, ADN and probably others all supporting Dilber's call. Koona, dual-citizen in Equilism and The Proletariat Coalition was sounded for his opinion on the handling of the situation by the ADN and Pope Hope. He explained by saying that: No, her 1st move was most definitly not the best course of action, but the same thing can be said for EuroSoviets. But as ADN director she had the right, I don't think one can contest that, given the makeup of the ADN, and the power wielded in her position. He later explained that he believed the handling of the situation by The General Secretary of the Red Liberty Alliance – Xhadam – had been better but further elucidated by saying that her[Pope Hope] stance and after that of the ADN per general was one of wait and see, and if that course of action was the correct one is what the whole world of NS is debating. Many members in organisations critical to the ADN were quick to note and state that Pope Hope had openly sanctioned and approved the power grab, in exchange of a promise that The West Pacific’s membership in the Alliance Defence Network would be untouched, partially lending credence to the “Francoist” analysis where the inhabitants of feeder regions – the Feederites - are considered as human charcoal to fuel the furnaces of their industry by the player-created regions – the Userites – as the latter had fought for influence and control over the resources of The West Pacific to further their political agenda.

In light of the important amount of external and internal pressure put on the oligarchs, The West Pacific Dominion, who had barely released the “articles of dominion” outlining the basic state structure – concentrating the power into the hands of an oligarchy – disbanded after barely 24 hours of formal existence and were resolutely beat back by the Constitutionalists who honorably defended the freedom and Constitution of The West Pacific, aptly assisted by defenders from all over the world as mentioned by Moo-cows with Guns. On the 4th of November, the Speaker of The West Pacific Council Shasoria formally accepted and received Biyah’s letter of resignation and announced the end of the short-lived Dominion. TAO, long-time resident of The West Pacific and Vice-Prime Minister, later declared that he was assuming the duties of “acting Prime Minister” given his position as Vice-Prime Minister. His membership in the “Core” however, has not gone unnoticed and members of The West Pacific have expressed their disappointment over his actions. Whether The People of The West Pacific will accept his stature as acting Prime Minister remains to be seen. Pierconium, recently re-commissioned Senator of Justice in The People’s Republic of The Pacific and former Dictator of The North Pacific who brought untold misery and pain upon the people of The North Pacific as leader of the brutal dictatorship known as The North Pacific Directorate, commented the dissolution of The West Pacific Dominion with the following words: Dictators just don't have any backbone anymore. A few people calling names and the whole structure collapsed. Biggest cry fest I have seen in a while. Members of The West Pacific have begun their quest to bring the members of the short-lived oligarchy to justice both in The West Pacific but also in the Alliance Defence Network as certain members of the “Core” might face a prosecution for “Treason to the Alliance Defence Network” pending the outcome of the discussions held in the ADN. Berhampore expressed his hope and belief that he hoped to see justice done but justice tempered with compassion. Freedom of speech, freedom of association - these are still hallmarks of the West Pacific. Several members of the oligarchy have now emigrated to a new region baptised “The Refuge”, awaiting the consequences that their rash actions will unfurl and discussing the future course of actions they will take from now. As the time of The West Pacific Dominion drew to an end, Grothistan - Minister of Foreign Affairs in Equilism – explained his belief that this just goes to prove that you can't force great changes over a region in short time, without broad public support.

It goes without saying that The Red Liberty Alliance will as ever make tireless efforts to convey and further our friendship with The West Pacific, upholding the main spirit of The Blacksheep Alliance and Jeelik-Daningrad Declaration. We would like to wish the inhabitants of The West Pacific the best of luck in all their activities and a rapid restoration of their democracy and stability.
