Zetaboards Forums Being Forcefully Converted to Tapatalk!

So apparently all zetaboards forums are being involuntarily converted to tapatalk sometime in the next few months or so. What does this mean for us? Will it cost money to keep this going on tapatalk even though we never chose to use tapatalk? What are we going to do? Migrate to...proboards? I shudder to think of what that would be like for us. What are we going to do!?

The tapatalk website says that groups are free (at first) but then it talks about different monthly plans that cost money. Tapatalk looks a bit complex to me. I'm really not looking forward to it.

I can assure you, the tapatalk looks hideous. But, I don't know what tools and such things will be available once they figure out the ZB merge.

Worrying, especially as we know very little at this point about themes and whether it will work differently.

Likely it will have more paid features, but the basic forum will be free (like ZetaBoards, who also had a premium version).

Think of all the history lost if we don't like TapaTalk.

I think if TapaTalk sucks we should buy our own domain to make sure this can never happen.

That'd just make us dependent on either whoever is hosting the forums for us or on people donating. There are free alternatives to Zetaboards, and while I'm not looking forward to a switch, we don't really know how tapatalk will look when they make the switch.

We don't know yet whether this will actually happen, and if it does, what product will actually be offered/forced.

Until then, while discussing other options doesn't hurt, I don't expect that we'll need to move.

I saw that HEM put together a petition he's gonna send to the zetaboards admins. Is TRR gonna be putting it's name on it? I don't know if it'll get anything done but this forum has been around for as far back as 2005 (2004?) and there's a lot of our region's history here. If there's even the slightest chance that we can preserve it or maybe even keep the forum as is I think we should take it.

Yeah, it's been around since 2004.

If we get our name on that petition, we'll probably make a difference!

I'm hoping we can get CG to put her name on it for us. I reserved a spot on the doc for us (for now). Someone who's close to her should tell her about it.

The TapaTalk preview doesn't look that bad, actually.

I also think we're allowed to customize the theme in the future, though.
