Uni designed a new skin for the forum, which has been added as an alternative theme.
The old one is still there, although we had to change a bit the group colours to suit both themes.

Post your feedback here.

This is really nice actually! :)

The animation on the background might a problem to those with slow computers but overall I like it.

Let's pick one theme or the other. I like it when I know everybody is viewing the exact same thing.

Uni did a great job on that theme. I don't think I'm ready to switch (and not sure if I ever will be :P) but you should all try it out.

But the theme looks great!

It looks great. Good work.

Though it's killing my connection on my temporarily slow back-up laptop. :P

It's definitely pretty snazzy, if I do say so myself.

Good stuff

I'd like more feedback on this please. Unibot has requested the default theme be changed to TRR Modern, and I want to know popular it is and what people's thoughts are.

My preference is for Carux Blue - aside from being used to it, I like the simplicity and the colours. It doesn't have anything flashy to it (ideal for mobile browsing, slow connections etc.) and it continues the history of blue/grey forums.

However, I can obviously still use that regardless of what is default, so I'd like to get a rough idea of the popularity of each theme, as well as opinions on which works best as default.

I'm still using the default theme, and I have to say that I disagree with criticism of it - I've always liked it, from Day 1. Which one is default does not matter to me so much, but sedge's point regarding mobile browsing and slow connections is a powerful one. I'm sceptical regarding just how advantageous switching would be, and so to answer your question Unibot, I don't really mind which one new members see first. But if the consensus is that the modern theme is 'better', then I'd be fine with a switch.

By the way, Unibot, is this planned recruitment going to be internal, or just an importation of "foreign elite" from other regions?

Moving backgrounds annoy me as hell, and I know it is an issue for more people as well, it is a criticism often found online.

I'm using the new one and I like the feel of it. Either way I'm not bothered though. Do we know if the new skin is much worse for mobiles?

Another point - the stars/clouds background I can understand (they match what's in our flag), but the rocket/planet icons seem a bit odd and unrelated to anything TRR.

This new forum theme fits well with the motif of the flag. It's very defining of TRR :)

I would like the modern one way better if it wasn't animated, which causes it to give me hell when I try to post something on mobile.

I used it on my mobile today and had no issues?
That is not the case for me. It starts flashing, and then it crashes.

I want to use emoticons to describe this:
The animated theme to my mobile device: :whip:
The Carux Blue Theme to my mobile device:

I know, I actually would like TRR Modern, if it wasn't animated. But yes, Carux Blue is my prefered theme.

I agree. Although they may have been put in to fit in, in my opinion, they do the opposite and instead stick out quite brashly.

Aside from that minor gripe, I adore the new theme. Well done Uni. ^_^

James

I like your theme Uni. I really do. The problem is, I like to use my mobile too, and it causes problems when posting. If you could fix that, I would use it, no doubt.

I spoke with CG about making this the default theme, as I know you're keen to do that. We agreed to do it, if there's a majority supporting that.

So if someone wants to set up a vote of some sort, please do so, and we'll abide by its decision.

A few suggestions on the vote - it should be held on the forums, I'd prefer to have votes posted (not a poll), and I don't object to non-citizen forum regulars voting.
