Awards Ceremony

Post by Nakari »

The results are in!

Thank you for all your nominations and votes! It's been nice to honor the good of 2020, a year where, at least for me, the Rejected Realms were full of activity, fun, and friendship, or something corny like that! But without further delay, let's get to the winners:

Most Outstanding RMBer

thepeopl, a delightful presence on the RMB who I know mostly for their descriptions of absolutely delicious sounding food and mature, thoughtful but direct approach to sensitive discussions. They're fun to have around on the RMB and it's clear many enjoy their regular posts on the RMB. Honorable mention to Aandruzognivia - unfortunately half of the votes for Aandru were the same person so I ignored them but there were still quite a lot of real people who voted!

Best Newcomer
2020’s Newcomer of the Year winner, Dyl, has quickly become an essential part of our community and a talented Speaker, staffer, and legislator. Elected as speaker towards the end of the year, our winner quickly got to work increasing the efficiency of his elected office, cleaning up the legislative forums, and more. Dyl is a great friend to many of us, and we’re so glad he decided to join us this year.

Pen & Paper Award
Since joining TRT, Agalaesia quickly proved himself as a talented journalist, earning his place as the first Editor in Chief. Putting out many editions of the paper, Aga continued to do excellent work. He stepped down as EiC recently, but has continued to put together great articles, earning him the 2020 Pen and Paper Award.

Best Legislator
This year’s Best Legislator Award is split between two people who debate furiously and intelligently in the Assembly. Interestingly, they are perfect opposites, one appealing and one repealing. The award goes to Guy and The Grim Reaper!

Best Staff Member
Proving Chipmunker’s high quality as a staff member, they’re literally helping me with the awards right now. They’ve been an ambassador in our Diplomatic Corps, strengthening our relationships with other regions, and have contributed greatly in Outreach, including writing guides, creating dispatches to boost our WA endorsements, and coming up with new ideas for regional engagement.

Most Outstanding Officer
This award, for the officer that made the most impact in TRR in 2020, is tied. Deadeye Jack was an incredible Culture Officer, inspiring plenty of activity, and introducing multiple new events and activities including the Culture Calendar (which Nakari, another Culture Officer, shamelessly stole and got an award for. She also did Rejectmas!).

Best Government Member

This award goes to two government members that I think are pretty similar, Sarah Bread and Jamie. Both are enthusiastic and passionate about getting people involved, both are great at engaging new players and guiding and encouraging others to contribute to the region, and both are just genuinely great people. Sarah especially shone in her Outreach role, and Jamie introduced the joy of cards to the Rejected Realms. They’re also two excellent delegates!

Veteran Reject Award

Despite having practically been here since the dawn of time, Frattastan is still making active contributions to the region and to the game at large. Beside having had a brief stint as Officer of Foreign Affairs under delegate Sarah, Fratt is the high commander of the Rejected Regional Army and is also the longest serving member on the Citizenship Committee, helping keep the region stable. Jamie served this year as both WA officer, working with staff to establish a well-oiled engagement machine, and then as Delegate. They’ve been in the Rejected Realms for several years as a positive and friendly presence, contributing greatly to our cultural activity, including amazing Popmaster scores and the creation of the Discarded Cards League, introducing a new dimension to the Rejected Realms.

Best RRA Newcomer Soldier
This was one of the closest race in the awards, with every candidate receiving at least 10 votes and an absolutely tiny margin between the winner and the runners-up. However, it was finally won by the enthusiastic, helpful and skilled Chipmunker, who has been a welcome addition to the Rejected Realms Army this year.

Greymarshes Achievement Award

Meanwhile, in the Greymarshes, Jamie has been hard at work advancing the defender cause as an officer of the RRA. Helping to plan important defenses, coordinate our operators, and lead the military, Jamie has clearly earned this award. We’re proud to have them as one of our leaders!

Event of the Year
This award is tied between two events. Harry Potter and the Festival of Friends started in basically the last days of the year, but made a big splash in that time. Organized by us, the South Pacific, the East Pacific, 10000 Islands and Greater Dienstad, this event included fierce competition between houses, exciting contests, and an amazing roleplay. The other winning event is Outbound’s existence. Outboundstagnate joined TRR Discord in January and was banned in March, but only after dispensing his wisdom about Gaddafi and the inherent evil of aqueducts.

Quote of the Year

The winner of this award is a quote that both succinctly describes the personality of one of our most-loved players, but also acts as a handy guide for newer players who may come into contact with the subject. It is, of course:
Neop wrote:levels of fratt joy, from greatest to least.

1. LOL
2. rofl
3. :>
4. lol.
5. Quotespeak
6. k.
7. “Let me know if you can attend next major or minor.”
Reject of the Year

Serving as delegate and then officer of Culture in quick succession, our winner was behind culture calendars and also appointed the first World Assembly Officer in modern times. He’s been an inspiring and creative member of the region, sparking plenty of activity in his time as officer, and leading the region reliably and clear-headedly in his wonderful term as Delegate. Our well-deserving Reject of the Year is Deadeye Jack!

See you all next year, to celebrate another twelve months of Reject excellence!
