The 11th Thaecian General Election: 83 Votes!
Written By: The Ambis
Edited by: Islonia and Brototh
Thaecia has now held the region's eleventh general election! It is the greatest number of valid ballots cast in a Thaecian election, finishing at 83 votes cast. The elected positions of Prime Minister (the Head of Government and State), MP (x11) and Senator (x7) were open. Eighty ballots were cast for the Senate and the House, and eighty-three for the Prime Minister.

Despite pre-election polls, it was still largely up in the air as to who would claim the coveted position. Further adding to that was the report from The Islamic Country of Honour that 83+ people had voted in the election, an enormous number that was a delightful surprise to many, with candidate Islonia stating that “it’s a turnout victory.” In the end, the results were:

Marvinville / Rayekka - 50 Votes (60.24%) [Winner]
Islonia (Altys) / The Ambis - 31 Votes (37.34%)
Saltmore - 2 Votes (2.42%)

Alongside the Prime Ministerial election were the elections for Congress. Congress in Thaecia is a bicameral elected legislature comprising 11 seats in the House of Commons and 7 seats in the Senate. The House serves a 2-month term, and the Senate serves a 4-month term. The campaign trail was focused on the size of Congress, on the issue of whether the elected legislature should be abolished in favour of a direct democracy, and on changes to the recall system. Other issues included time passed scrutinising bills and the candidates' commitment to the position may they be elected.

This election came following the downfall of the Thaecian Globalist Party (TGP), rebranded into The Phoenix Party (PHX), overthrown by The Alternative (ALT) as Thaecia's second largest political party. The change indicates a loss of momentum in the direct democracy movement in the region.

In the Senate election, 12 candidates contested 7 seats. The results were as follows:
Democratized Peoples (IND)
New Central Iowa (PHX)
Pradera (FREE)
Pap Sculgief (IND)
Rayekka (IND)
Saltmore (ALT) [Incumbent]
Snowflame (FREE) [Incumbent]

In the House election, 17 candidates contested 11 seats. The results were as follows:
Angypt (ALT)
Isopi (ALT)
Mardis (FREE) [Incumbent]
Republic of Aiyland (PHX)
Snalland (PTD)
Santa Marana (FREE) [Incumbent]
Ska Siraind (PHX)
The Ambis (ALT) [Incumbent]
The United Patagonian States (FREE) [Incumbent]
Ttyxious (PHX)
Zon island (FREE)

A new Cabinet
Written By: Islonia
General Elections oblige, it was time to renew the Cabinet! The new Prime Minister, Marvinville, has made new Cabinet nominations over the last few weeks. These nominations have now been voted on and confirmed by the Senate. Therefore the following ministers for this term are:
  • Pap Sculgief as Minister of Domestic Affairs, with 6 ayes and 1 abstention.
  • Brototh as Minister of Foreign Affairs, with 6 ayes and 1 abstention.
  • Toerana V as Minister of Culture, with 5 ayes and 2 nays.
  • Islonia as Minister of Defence , with 6 ayes and 1 absentee.
  • Isopi as Minister of Communications, with 6 ayes and 1 absentee.
  • Snowflame as Minister of Legal Affairs, with 4 ayes, 2 abstentions and 1 absentee.
As for each ministers' plans for the term, while the general goal of the Cabinet is to follow the ideas of Prime Minister Marvinville, each have stated more in depth explanations of such goals or displayed additional ones to the Senate. These include, but are not limited to:

MoDA Pap Sculgief's pledge to further incentivise citizens to manually recruit and reward those who do so; as well as bringing additional focus from the Government to onsite infrastructures where he deems it to have a "lessen[ed] presence". Currently the Minister has worked towards updating the Government's dispatch network as well as manually recruiting and welcoming newcomers. He has selected Syrasia as his Deputy Minister.

MoFA Brototh's pledge to reform the Diplomatic corps who will "not just be mindless administrative drones", but instead as citizens "more involved in the FA process" as well as "giv[ing them]" a voice" in our region's FA. She is currently working towards this goal, with an expected announcement on the weekend of December 3rd. She has selected Islonia as her Deputy Minister.

MoC Toerana V's pledge to expand the ministry's reach in both activities and people, aiming to hold more events with a more diversified palette while giving an increased focus on the gameside part of the region which he admitted was his "weakest area" last term. Progress for these many goals are well underway as can be shown in the region's culture calendar. He has selected Ska Siraind as his Deputy Minister.

MoD Islonia's pledge to continue on the current trend he's set up last terms as Tagus while specifically stating he wishes the Thaempirial Army to "stay entirely independent from any other organisation", to train a new guard capable of leading the Army, and to have it be more "visible" to non-soldiers. Progress is well underway with the army now taking part in liberations from its own server, several soldiers being trained to become officers, and operation reports being publicised to the region. He has yet to select a Deputy Minister.

MoLA Snowflame's pledge to break the "status quo" (the ministry's relative inactivity outside of court cases) by proposing analysises of bills through the eyes of the Executive, comparing them to the Delegacy's WA Recommendations. He hopes to propose weekly reviews and to offer another activity for newcomers to take part in. He has yet to select a Deputy Minister.

Comms Isopi's pledge to keep the ministry running as it currently does with its monthly updates, while hoping to give an open platform for opinion articles and the like under the umbrella of the Thaecian Tribune. She has selected Astorius as her Deputy Minister.

The Treaty of Nakasako
Written By: Islonia
Following several days of negotiations and assent from the Thaecian Senate, it is the pleasure of the governments of Thaecia and the Alstroemerian Commonwealths to announce the Treaty of Nakasako. Named after the capital of the Takeda Shogunate, one of Thaecia's most powerful nation throughout its many seasons of roleplay, the treaty represents the formalisation of several years of relationship starting with the failed yet obviously not unsuccessful Consortium project. It codifies a diplomatic, cultural and defensive relationship between two signatories whose interests regularly align; therefore acting as a natural expansion of our partnership.

The Treaty can be viewed here.

Signed,

Thaecia:

Marvinville, Prime Minister
Brototh, Minister of Foreign Affairs
Islonia, Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

Alstroemerian Commonwealths:

Ill'haress Haaton Prime, Delegate & Empress of Japan
Particle, Delegate of Yggdrasil
Tostandia, Delegate of Eientei Gensokyo
Mocha, Delegate of The Glorious Nations of Iwaku

November Hunger Games
Written By: Islonia
More than a year following its last Hunger Games, the region relaunched its recurring suvivor event as a monthly occurrence. In addition to the rebirth of the regional tradition, it was decided to invite friends from partner regions to take part in the games as a way to get to meet new people from overseas!

This month Aros Elyium was invited. The total number of tributes was 36, though it is estimated the number of players were more around 40 due to last minute arrivals or accidental double entries of the same tribute by host Islonia. Same goes for the tributes' gender, which were left at random due to him not changing them. The live event lasted a little over a hour, with ultimately Auravas winning the show.

The highlights of the night were Creckelenney's killing spree at the beginning of the Hunger Games (setting off a bomb that killed 4 tributes at once) then immediate shutdown the night after at the hands of four other tributes; and Sunipi's Boris Johnson tribute who kept doing suspicious actions which almost led him to win the game before he stepped on a landmine and died, thus ending up second place.

  • The Thaempirial Army has reached a combined force of 43 members: 20 active soldiers, 13 reserve soldiers, and 10 militiamen.
  • The last officially hosted Paradox Game was a Stellaris multiplayer on Friday 25th! Sadly everyone died to Gigastructural Engeering's "The Blokkats" endgame crisis.

  • In the Roleplay, the Arbëri-Rhyssuan war sees South Selenia join Rhyssua's side following repeated violations of her sovereignty by Arbër, joined swiftly by the United Kingdoms. After a short series of battles and bombing campaigns, Arbëri General Luderin led a coup against the government and has sued for peace to the Selenian triumverate. The Paragonian Civil War sees an alliance of Koelasian nations come together to enact a blockade around the region, pressuring all sides to come to the negotiation table following years of brutal fighting.
