I had a campaign prepared for this in November (it’s in one of my dispatches onsite), but I feel as though it’s not going to be the exact same here. Instead, I’ll write it out differently.
Hi, I’m Liberza. Most people either call me just that or Lib. I have been in the Rejected Realms since August of 2022. I’m going to be running for officer this December, primarily in gameside. My original campaign also pointed out a secondary liking for WA Affairs, but now I am convinced thst such a position would be unnecessary at the moment, after reading a few words from
here.
gameside stuff
Mad Jack has been our gameside officer for a good term, and it would be an honor to see his changes remain as a central part of filtering our message board’s content, which at many, many times, I can say as an active RMBer, can get nasty. The changes I would like to make are not very drastic. With that said, my main concern is being a bit stricter on the RMB Rules. All of them are important to keeping our RMB clean and safe from spam and discrimination and the like.
Now while Rule #2 is very rarely broken, we did have an incident in August of this year (I believe that was the month) where a small bunch of n00bs thought it would be a good idea to try and sign a weak, worthless petition because they thought MJ was no good. Obviously, it was never going to work, but it was an attempt, nonetheless, to overthrow a citizen-elected official in an undemocratic way. If an incident like this were ever to happen again, any messages that support such a thing would be suppressed in violation of Rule 2, “Do not call for the overthrow of the regional government”.
Rule 4 is obvious enough something that must be enforced 24/7. I include in this rule all people and cultures with quite literally ZERO exceptions when it comes to someone’s race, gender, ethnicity, orientation and the like—and when I say zero, I mean it. It will never be okay to threaten or insult someone for something that is not in their control.
Rule 7, be respectful, is broken a lot. While it would vary from case to case, I would look to suppress cases of obvious flaming. It’s hard not to get angry at someone for acting in a way that you depict as wrong, but it’s easy to act disciplined on the internet as well.
And finally, my arch-nemisis, useless posting, including one word posts that don’t give valid replies or comments about an ongoing discussion. It is WAY too overkill for me to suppress all messages that don’t add to a conversation, so I’ll just give a few examples of what would be preferably suppressed and what would not be:
- One-word posts that DON’T add to the conversation: Suppressed for obvious reasons. They clog up the RMB and, as the RMB Rules dispatch says, encourages others to do so as well. It is counter productive and useless. An example would be saying ‘pineapple’ when people are talking about something completely different.
- One-word posts that DO add to the conversation: Not Suppressed. An example would be saying “yes”, “no”, or any sort of general answer to someone who asks a question, among other things. Basically, as long as your one-word post would have anything meaningful to say, it’d be allowed.
- Multi-word posts that do not add to the conversation: Not Suppressed (Usually). Most of these probably WOULDN’T be suppressed, but it would depend on the context. If it is, for example, showcasing statistics of their nation, a question of the day, a writing prompt, or something that tries to start up a new discussion, that’s allowed. If it breaks any of the RMB Rules, it is obviously suppressable.
And of course, continuing Mad Jack’s policies are crucial. RMB Overwatch is certainly helpful, and it’s of course important to ping the gameside officer on the regional discord or the RMB if someone discovers a rule-breaking post. Of course, I will very often look through the RMB for posts that break rules in general, out of my own will.
But of course, with MJ also running for re-election (and likely succeeding due to his reliability and general ability to moderate the RMB efficiently), I will need an alternative in case I’d not be assigned to gameside. I despise the idea of being in foreign affairs, and integration I don’t quite understand what I would even do. The only other option would be Culture Officer, and although I might have schedule issues, it’s the only other existing officer position I’d be willing to give a try.
culture stuff
I’m definitely not full of 100% original culture ideas—but that is what the point of the Culture Office on this forum is, to help out the Culture Officer and/or pollsters with ideas for activities. There are a couple of activities I really like the idea of, though.
- Creative Writing.
Anarchi made a creative writing competition a few months ago iirc, where anyone can submit a story of any kind (with a few rules preventing inappropriate writing). I’d love to hold those more frequently. Not much elaboration to do here, but I really love creative writing myself, and increasing the amount of creative writing events would probably be a fun experience while also keeping our region alive.
- CYOAs.
This is another one that I can not take credit for, made by Hoffania, but why stop making these at one? We can change up the idea a bit—every start of the year, there’s a new CYOA poll and a totally different story. Each poll would theoretically last around 2 to 3 days, or at the very most 5, with breaks between each so we can have different themed polls, like the fun ones usually made by good ol’ thepeopl. It wouldn’t be fair for these to take over the entirety of the poll system, after all.
And while my Culture campaign consists of ideas that aren’t ones I came up with, I would be willing to change up themes, ideas and other things to make the experiences more unique for people to enjoy. I’d also be often looking at
Culture Office for new ideas from people and determining if they’d be good for the region’s activity.
As I said earlier, I really wouldn’t be into integration or foreign affairs, as I don’t really understand the procedures behind them. As such, campaigning for either position would be a waste of time and counterproductive for everyone.
Also, I’m not necessarily expecting this campaign to be a success. If I were a different person reading this, I might have been skeptical at first. Some of these changes might appear too ambitious and radical for some, so I am looking forward to hearing feedback and ideas to make it better. I will try my best to make a good impression on this page, and as such I will be open to answering questions, of course. As I said, I’m not necessarily expecting people to meet this approach without a few questions or concerns, so if there’s anything wrong or questionable that you notice, please let me know, thanks :]
