The Council of Three is going to have to organise voting pretty soon... so we'd like to know how people would like it to work.

The main question is public vs. private.

You could argue game vs. forum, but since everyone is here, I don't think there's an issue with having voting through the forum.

If we go for public, we'll have a thread opened up for each person to post their vote in. If we go for private, we'd likely have a 'ballot collector' account on the forum that all Co3 members can access - votes would be PMed to it. That way, each member of the Co3 can verify the votes.

Do you want everyone to know how you voted (and therefore to know how everyone else voted), or for only the Council of 3 to know?

I'm fine with either way, but perhaps letting the voter choose would be the best solution? They can either vote publicly by posting in a thread or by PM to all members of the Council of Three.

A possible compromise that has worked fairly well elsewhere is an anonymous forum poll, with people who have voted posting to say that they've voted. If someone's watching the changing poll totals really closely, they can figure out who voted which way, but people can also wait a little while before saying that they've voted, if that's a worry.

A poll would require me to remove some RRAers access to this forum (as they haven't registered as residents). If we're going for anonymity, I don't see the problem with using PMs.

Since there doesn't seem to be strong feelings either way I'd like to say that I support public voting. It's the best way to ensure an honest process.

Yep, that seems to be the decision of the Council of 3, and voting is likely to start on the 5th.

What is required to get this voting started? Does someone just need to start a voting thread?

One of the Co3 will start the voting thread when needed, but I think it might be pushed back a day or two.

Well, it needs to happen soon. The start of voting in this election was supposed to begin 9 days ago.

I know - it was put back due to the mass of new registrants after you/Nai TGed everyone in the region, and we had settled on the 5th, but someone wants us to wait a couple more days.
