Ministry of External Affairs
In July we welcome two Visiting Dignitaries, angusp from Global Right Alliance and Caligula SanArkus from Ainur. We are also very pleased to welcome Global Right Alliance ambassador, Rom, a new 10K ambassador, Wordy Alpha346585 as ambassador for The East Pacific and Bogans and Boozers from England.

In August we were delighted to open two new consulates. One for The Apartment Block and one for Philosophy 115. Canada welcomes Dr. George as our ambassador from Philosophy 115.

We look forward to all the updates the new ambassadors will be posting in Canada.

Canada was proudly represented at the Wysterian games by the nations of Wild Mustanges, Almonaster Nuevo, Devil Heart, Pubs of Parkplace, Lardon Atya and Stormaen. Despite the interruption of the invasion Canada had a jolly time competing in the games.

Ministry of Internal Affairs
During July an impromptu Pool Party over at the Texan Embassy has seen some jolly spirited swimming in the drink. Surprisingly, there has been no need for applied resuscitation...yet.
In addition, the Texans' found they had a thing or two to learn about pool parties in Canada.

House of Commons

Canada was invaded on August 3, 2014. The invasion was led by UIAF and The Black Hawks. In true NS Canadian spirit we thew a party. The UIAF member, Athabasca Sands, held the Delegate position for 5 days, and ejected/banned nine nations. Eleven embassies were closed.

Canada remained calm and nations with high influence stood strong to hold the fort.

After five days Canada was handed over to Billy Joel, a member of The Black Hawks. Billy Joel password protected the region and ejected more nations bringing the total up to 50 natives removed.

Canadian citizens were concerned they were in for the long haul, so we wrote a Liberation Proposal. On August 14, 2014 Billy Joel resigned from the World Assembly and the raiders began to leave Canada and the Liberation proposal was not needed.

Once Canada belonged to the rightful owners we threw another party!

Canada would also like to take this time to thank all the NS Regions and individuals that supported us during the invasion (there are too many to list).

A special thanks to Yggdrasil for housing all the misplaced Canadians.

The House has been debating ways to celebrate and engage Citizens. The initial proposal was for a Citizens Day, provisionally 29th of March. Another suggestion was giving badges or other awards for various types of activity. Discussion is still ongoing.

We welcome Kohlandia, our new ambassador from The East Pacific

Sadly, a number of embassies have been closed this month:
Equinox - inactivity
Great Britain and Eire - inactivity
The Rejected Realms - inactivity
The United Federation - inactivity
British isles - we aren't active enough for them
Europeia - Supported the raid on Canada

A number of Canadian citizens were delighted to have an opportunity to congratulate New Texas (aka Big Tex) on his 10 years of Delegacy in Texas.

We are excited about the 'in progress' renovations over in the Wysterian Embassy that will facillitate extensions to the AdianBrooks Gallery attached to the embassy.
There is to be a wing for Children's Art as well, here is and example of the kind of work that might be represented there:

This month in the 'Real Live Politics and Current Events' thread a flurry of conversation broke out around the possibility of an independent Scotland.
Not least I expect because we are home to a real life Scot, a Geordie and several Englishman, of whom we are all very fond.

House of Commons

In the wake of the recent raid, the House has understandably been mostly concerned with reviewing our security arrangements, and any regulatory changes which might be needed. In particular we have discussed the level of endorsement caps and procedures for enforcing these, along with ideas for formalizing the position of Senior Citizen (vizier). We also want to make better efforts to reach out to the long-term residents who do not use the forum and gain an understanding of what motivates them.

We are delighted to welcome some new regional embassies and ambassadors:

Santa Joanna from Forest

New ambassadors from our delightful old friends:
Owen Hesse from The Kingdom of Great Britain
Chaplin Dawkins from Ainur

So pleased to have Alta Italia as visiting dignitary from Australia

And last but not least, we say a tearful goodbye to Barrarabian Butlers as our ambassador from XKI (but very pleased he still visits us!) and welcome with great joy the return of Aersoldorf as our ambassador from XKI

Canada at The Nation States World Fair
The World Fair 2015 was strong in dedicated involvement from Canada this year. I am talking about Almonaster, one of a great team from several regions who were responsible for getting the whole show up, and making sure it all ran smoothly. The other members of this crack team were the good folk of the region Greater Dienstad (host region - especially The Macabees, United Gordonopia and Lamoni) and of course the committee - Todd McCloud, McMasterdonia, Astarial, Almonaster, Sopo, and The Grim Reaper (Honorary)

The badge Almonaster created for the event:
was proudly sported by many most nations attending the fair.

Ministry of Internal Affairs

Having such a creatively visual population in Canada, we all have taken like loones to water over the idea of changing our regional flag to reflect real and NS world events. The discussion over changing flags has been intermittently spread over a variety of threads, here are just a couple I located:

Welcome Drock Borien and the opening of a new Embassy for Vanet. Canada looks forward to the exchange of diplomatic relations.

Shout out to Kastros Drakan, the new ambassador from The Allied States.

Canada At The Cross-Regional Games!
Overall, Canada has won 4 medals an honorary award so far, including 2 golds – breaking Canada's "1 gold curse" at the CRGs!

In Parkour:
Stormaen's James Larkin won an Elisse Heroes award for coining the term "3.5 flip a donkey jump", for spinning over a parked donkey.

In Camel Racing:
Stormaen's Kieran Martin won bronze, although it was Devil Heart's Hill Brick that stole the show. Her camel, Barb Da Bounce had misgivings about her costume from the get go and ended up running blind due to bling! Unfortunately, her refusal to wear those go-faster stripes in the second round ended their chances of winning a medal.

In Chess Boxing
Devil Heart's Ebony Ivory won Canada's first gold medal of these games. Ebony Ivory proved her worth in the third and final round, masterfully mixing caution with attack and taking the gold on the third game of the third round in under 2 minutes.

In Spelling Bee
Canada crashed out of this event in rather embarrasing style. All but one of our entries was disqualified for reasons undisclosed. Presumably, they got into that Moose Gland beer stash... Buzz Warhead from Parkplace made it to the final round but took so long to spell his word that an air horn was needed to awaken the judges. Looks like Canadians will have to invest more time and money in eduquation. I mean education!

In Extreme Ironing
Another event Canada didn't do so well in. Three of our nations made it to the second round but Stormaen's Max Cartwright looked bit of a caveman with his Iron Age iron. Only Wild Mustange's Susie Quilt made it to the third round where she chose to iron on a cow's back and, consequently, missed out on bronze by only a single point! When it's winter 8 months of the year, as in Canada, you live without an iron. Really, nobody irons their overcoats. Though maybe we ought to start to!

In Flying Squirrel Suit
Stormaen's Oscar Reed won Canada's second gold medal – finally breaking the "1 gold curse". It was also his country's first gold at the CRGs.

Spouse Carrying
Stormaen's Ollie and Ellie Ferguson have added to their region's successes, winning a bronze.

There are still events to go, however, so let's cross fingers, throw goats and drink Moose Glands to Canada's success!

Ministry of Internal Affairs
Members have posted a number of interesting links on a range of topics on Real Life Politics and Current Events and Art.
Do feel free to have a peruse.

We are very honoured to have such varied and inquiring exhibitions brought to us by Celestial Maple of Wysteria at regular intervals. Everybody is welcome to call in and visit the museum at any time. The particular postcard we are sharing with you this month comes from April Surgent's body of work where she creates cameo style engravings from photographs taken from daily life. This month has seen a review of our diplomatic ties with our various regions.
Just a little reminder that if your region has been delivered with a closure message, there is still time until August 1st to call in and say hello to Canada!

We are very pleased to announce that we have our favourite old/now new ambassadors from Ainur and the Kingdom of Great Britain back with us Yay!
We are also delighted to have Lord Ravenclaw from The North Pacific as a visiting dignitary, and look forward to meeting our new ambassador from that region over the next month or two. Skål!
We also got a very immediate response from our ambassador from the United Kingdom, Misael Gamez.
Thank you to all our diplomatic partners, Canada is very proud to have you all as friends.

We had a request in Canada from The Democratic Kingdom of Isaris for some banner ideas for the national paper. Here is a link to the brief, and the results:

Alterrum opened a discussion requesting we consider increased use of polls to encourage greater RMB activity in the region. The idea is being well supported, so we look forward to the possibility of a combination of the silly and the serious on the gaming front soon!

Canada is excited to announce diplomatic relations with Portugal.

For reasons unknown Canada split relations with Equilism long ago and are happy, after all this time, to move forward with diplomatic relations once again. ParrrrTay was so excited she remembered her password on Equilism's forum from 2005.
A big welcome to our new Foreign officials

ParrrrTay and Mattie had so much fun in XKI playing in Werewolves 50: Pandora's Boxes. There were so many twists and turns with all the boxes being opened, to this day we don't know how Aersoldorf kept track of everything.

Ministry of Internal Affairs

Comments from several nations on the RMB inspired a fresh initiative to re-examine our government structure. Discussions will doubtless rumble on for some time.

Canada decided to switch things around a bit this year with Z-Day and embrace the Zombies. For quite a few hours Canada held the #1 spot for most dead...bragging rights. LOL

Gee golly we love those Texans, and this month they came to visit us!
ParrrrTay was encouraged to form a conga line, so Matilda Love grabbed hold of The Federation of The United Republic States of Newland and Ace Morrigan. Fleshia flopped sombreros on their heads and tacos in their hands, then ran off to join the conga line behind Parkplace.

Thanks for your visit, we still have full tummies and fond memories!

I tend to agree (I was one of those voting for it). We might disagree about what was "properly" regulated, however.
