Greetings from the Greenwood Glades

Post by Uan aa Boa »

Hello Rejects! It's been a while and a few things have happened, so here's a quick update.

Forest has a proper forum for the first time in ages. Sometimes people even post things on it, which is encouraging. Everyone's more than welcome to swing by and request our rather nifty "world citizen" badge - just follow the link from the WFE. We're also having a Grow a Plant Event where you do exactly what the title suggests and keep the forum updated with pictures of it as it grows. Full details also linked to the WFE.

Our new Forest Keeper (head of government) is Caracasus, long standing issue author, issue editor, creative writing guru and communist agitator. He was elected from a healthy pool of 9 candidates when his predecessor Palos Heights stepped down due to real life commitments, winning 50% of the vote exactly in round 1 and comfortably winning the run-off against Mount Seymour (aka Somyrion/Aumelodia). He'll serve until the next scheduled elections in September, for which we're about to vote on a constitutional change reducing the term to 6 months from the current whopping 12. Is that the longest electoral term in NS? Dunno, it's hard to compare to you guys and your challenge system anyway.

The rest of the previous ministerial team remain in place with the addition of Mozworld as Civil Servant (WFE maintenance basically), but most government issues are being thrashed out in forum based committees, a new development that seems to work quite well. It's all part of Caracasus's commitment to direct democracy, seeing the leader as a facilitator of the collective rather than a presidential figurehead. It's all so achingly right on it almost hurts.

Updates to our two league tables, Ransium's Greenness Index and Exceptionally Green Nations in Forest are still being regularly produced by Montmorencia, though the continued presence of Lord Dominator, Drasnia and Candlewhisper Archive does somewhat drag the average down.

In Foreign news we have new embassies with The North Pacific, Conch Kingdom, Spiritus, New Western Atlantic and the LCRUA, while we voted that, with regret, the time had come to close our embassy with Gay. Forest remains resolute in its support for LGBT+ equality.

Having a quick look around here TRR seems to be having something of a renaissance - there's a definite sense of energy and activity.

Anyway, call round any time - but it's probably best to avoid the home brew to be honest.

Hey, we have elections every 6 months now. (Just pointing that out.)

Thanks for the update!

The average life expectancy of a Manson deputy after their appointment is four days. Good luck.

Well, I never said I had my finger on the pulse on interregional affairs. In any case, the amendment passed so we now also have elections every 6 months.

Also, we're looking for a few volunteers to complete the numbers for a game of eco-themed mafia. Anyone interested please go to Forest's forum - link from the WFE
