Executive Delivers on Campaign Promise

On January 31st The Union States project; a combination of a "house" style initiative to encourage government participation and a fun new avenue for worldbuilding and roleplay in the world of the UDS; was officially announced. This was a campaign promise of the Kingdom of Sacento presidency and spearheaded by Vice President Glaciosia. After a two week sign-up/contest period, the states lead by Phoenix Coalition, Khevo and Luskana (all well known citizens and current or former members of the government) successfully became the first states to make their claim on the map with almost 20 citizens participating already. Soon enough, these citizens will earn points by doing manual recruitment, getting jobs in the government and more.
President Sacento Announces Cabinet

At the start of January Kingdom of Sacento was elected President of the Union, since then Cabinet appointments have been made.by Dome Artan
- Minister of Justice and Attorney General – Glaciosia
- Minister of Foreign Affairs – The Glorious Hypetrain
- Minister of the Census – Brittalia
- Minister of Culture – Luskana
- Minister of Defence – Mr Casually Cruel
- Minister of Roleplay – Duckstan
Half of the new Cabinet were members of outgoing President Guess and Check’s cabinet, with Glaciosia and Duckstan remaining in the same roles while The Glorious Hypetrain moved over to Foreign Affairs from Defence. The Minister of Culture role initially went unfilled until Luskana was appointed a week after the initial announcement.
February Senate Election Sees Voters Punish Lack of Campaigns

With the Senate term concluded at the end of January a new election period was promptly opened by Chief Election Commissioner The Glorious Hypetrain on February 1st. From the previous Senate, composed of British Isles and Commonwealth Realms, North Plegia, Lenlyvit, The Southeast Earth and Guess and Check; only Guess and Check and North Plegia expressed their desire to seek reelection, with long-time Senate Speaker British Isles and Commonwealth Realms announcing their decision to step back from their high levels of legislative activity. Isles, as they are known to the region's citizens, was later granted honorary citizenship by a motion unanimously passed in the Senate and signed by President Kingdom of Sacento.
The candidacy declaration period closed on February 4th with three more citizens joining the two incumbent Senators in seeking election. Bagong Timog Mindanao, Kim Hyun and Desbravadores do oeste were all relative newcomers with only Kim Hyun previously running for office. Despite the previous Senate having five seats, the February Senate was only slated to have four given the sliding activity scale based on voters in recent elections. Since not all candidates would be guaranteed a place and the newcomer status of 3/5ths of the field there was a push from the populace to see campaigns posted. Ultimately only the incumbent Senators published campaigns, a fact very much reflected in the election results. Guess and Check and North Plegia were reelected easily, receiving an average preference rank of 1.67 and 2.61 respectively. Bagong Timog Mindanao narrowly beat out perennial challenger RON (Re-Open Nominations) with an average preference rank of 3.44 where RON had 3.83. RON did defeat Kim Hyun and Desbravadores do oeste however, dooming the Election Commissioner to having to run another election immediately to fill the fourth Senate seat.
The by-election was announced on the 12th and was contested by Die Kronprinzessin and Josephto, two citizens with prior legislative experience in the Union. Both also posted campaigns, Die Kronprinzessin offering some set legislative goals while Josephto pledged activity. The election was very tight, Die Kronprinzessin narrowly beat Josephto 1.61 to 1.76 in average preference. Therefore the Senate that will serve the Union until the end of March is:

January USDAF Update

It’s been awhile since there was an out and out UDSAF Update to go along with the Embassy Update but the events in ALH mentioned in our last edition seem to have precipitated slightly more activity for the Union’s defence forces. New efforts to reach out to participants in the UDSAF server will hopefully garner fresh recruits. In preparation for that possibility UDSAF Colonel’s Glaciosia and Dome Artan performed an independent detag run to ensure the UDSAF’s officer core is up to snuff. Additionally UDSAF members were present at 25 updates this month.

UDSAF activity remained strong in February, especially in regards to unique personnel showing up to update in Libcord where last months total of four was doubled. The UDSAF also participated in some non-Libcord ops, such as an independently coordinated detag run previously reported on with The League as well as being a member org present at the Warzone Airspace liberation. In total, UDSAF members were present at 21 updates this month.
