Welcome to the Commune, visitor. The Commune is the Ferngill Republic's hottest new residential opportunity. A beautiful new experiment in neighbourly togetherness, the Commune offers a brand new way of thinking about the way we view our home. Mi casa, es su casa.
Here at the Commune, we are something like a local government of our very own. There aren't many of us yet, but we're growing every day! What we need, however, are enterprising people like you to start associations of your very own. We call them 'co-operatives' - organizations run, owned, and managed by the workers. Mind you stay active in the neighbourhood, though. The principles of the co-operative movement state quite clearly that we own property on behalf of the movement. If you disappear on us, you don't get to take anything with you - it stays in the Commune.
Sure, we expect people like you - the pioneers, the first ones in, so to speak - to lead from the front to begin with. But, as your co-operative grows, you'll find that it might be worth looking at the opportunities you have to bring new, quirky characters to bear in any issues that might be in their skill-set.
We're starting you off basic. As you can see, this is an office building we like to call the Town Hall - a couple of open-planned offices on either side of this reception area, and then we've got a few bedrooms on this second floor. You can stay in one for a few days while you get set up. When you've gotten a place to call your own, and maybe a few friends to take on the journey too, we'll even help you move in.
Just need you to do some paperwork - I'll get started on helping you move your bags while you fill these out, thanks.
You'll need a Resident Application for yourself and each new person who moves in with you - we put them on the Commune website once you're approved, so anyone else at the Commune can figure out who's who at a glance. You can say whatever you'd like in "Introduce Yourself" - make sure you've put in a little detail at least for one person in your household.
By the way, were there any more in your household? We've got double beds in this building, but we can dig up some more beds if you've some kids you're bringing along. And if you're a non-traditional household - maybe just roommates, or an extended family - then we're more than happy to accomodate you too.[New Commune Resident Application]

That's all from - oh, there is one more application. You might not need it for a while, but it's here if you want a copy - and hey, if you're a real go getter, I guess you might want it sooner rather than later.[New Household Application]

The co-operative application lets you associate a few households together. You'll need one if you want to move on from having an apartment to being a real member of the community with a say in how things run here, although you can just join rather than start one, of course. Co-ops are like our version of businesses, and you'll be asked to identify a main source of income - you don't need to stick too closely to it, and it can be changed later, but knowing what you want from life tends to make relevant opportunity crop up more often.
There's the keys. You're on the second floor, I left the shoerack outside your door so you know where you're going. Can't miss it.[New Cooperative Application]

Welcome to the Commune - I'll be seeing you real soon.
Income & Employment
All our residents are recent migrants under the Regional Satellite Scheme run by the local government in nearby Zuzu City. In the Scheme, highly skilled migrants have the same income as less skilled migrants, but may choose to work fewer days in employment so they have time to contribute directly to the Commune. Workdays are each 6 hours long - workers taking the forty-minute trip to and from Zuzu City are also mandated to receive a 20 minute break, making workdays a seven-hour commitment with hours selected by the workers.
Residents are paid an equal, weekly stipend into their Individual Savings Account, but also receive compensation per day worked in a Community Benefits Account - instead of accessing the latter fund directly, residents use their Community Benefits Account to fund specific projects by the Commune. As a result, while more specialized residents may have more time to share their skills with the Commune, less specialized residents bring in the money necessary to fund the improvement of the Commune.
Expertise for each Tier
You start off at tier 5, meaning you work five weekdays, Monday to Friday. You may work one fewer workday for every two years of education or four years of experience you have, up to tier 1 which allows you to pick a single working day. You may select the days you work, but it is compulsory that you take Saturday and Sunday off. You can also be promoted up in tiers on the basis of special exceptions, which are actually quite common on the basis of unique experiences, skills, or demonstrated ability.
Indicating Employment in your Application
Simply indicate how many weekdays you work, in what job, and what expertise you're using to apply for that tier.
