Both countries are being stupid and confrontational for no good reason. Iran will go out for revenge, leaving to US reprisals, leading to a whole series of confrontations, that could draw everyone into a large scale conflict

I think it was an ill conceived idea from Trump. The demonization of Iran while he kowtows to North Korea with nothing in return just doesn't make sense. By abandoning the nuclear deal and provoking Iran at every possible turn, there is not much opportunity for a de-escalation. Foreign Policy has been badly conceived in the Middle East in general though. The invasion of Iraq led to increased influence in the nation and the region for Iran and now they're mad Iran is more influential. It's just an incoherent strategic vision. Which is sadly par for the course for America

Iran launched missiles at US bases. Trump is actually backing down fron military action and considering economic sanctions. Has Iran just beat the US diplomatically?
