Did anyone see the devastating news yesterday about the death of one of the greatest authors to walk this earth?

Terry Pratchett, you will be missed

I've never read any of his books, but always felt I should and that I'd like them. Where would be a good place to start?

As a proper reader, I started with I think Guards! Guards! , the first of the Watch books. If you read Discworld, make sure you start with the first book in any of the sub-series.

In reality, I started with the Bromeliad I think with Truckers? It's been a while. I did also read Johnny and the Dead when I was young

Only read a couple of his books, but he's one of those rare authors whose exposition can be just as funny (often more so) as his dialogue and plotting. The Discworld stuff I'd like to read more of, and Good Omens (with Neil Gaiman) is imaginative and hilarious.

My advise would be, as someone mentioned, to being with any of the ones that are firsts to a substory line.

Since this may seem confusing to someone who doesn't knows the actual storylines, I have always found this image SUPER helpful:

I'm partially inclined to the Death and Watch novels btw, but all of it is amazing.

Good luck with it Sedge!

I downloaded "Good Omen" a couple of months ago, but haven't started it yet. I always buy books faster than I can read them... but I'll bump this one to the front of the stack. I've heard nothing but good.
