The Iliad

Post by Spartan Termopylae »

An epic piece of ancient literature nearly 3000 years old, Homer's telling of the closing stages of the even more ancient Trojan War is sweeping and enthralling, gods and men battling. Pseudo-history it may be, but it still captivates from a historical viewpoint. I would highly recommend it.

But I do have to warn you, if you have seen the Brian Cox, Eric Bana, Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom film Troy, it does not end at the same point

Never read it (although I did read The Odyssey a few years ago), save for some excerpts in school. And I think that when I was very young I found a copy at home and tried reading the first few pages, but the poem structure and language confused me. :P

Also, until now I never realised that your username might mean that you have an interest in classical history and literature!

But...... but....... I've been here years ๐Ÿ˜ข I do have a spot of interest in classical history. In a post discussing actual history books, I do refer to one or two classical histories. That you also posted in ๐Ÿ˜
