Obviously, from that, I'm a metal head. I love my metal. Who do we all like?

Right now, I'm going through the new metal album from Count Dooku. Sorry, Dracula. No....Scaramanga? Saruman? Obviously, I mean Christopher Lee. It's his second metal album, although the first was car too symphonic with not enough metal. This is more Luke it. Plenty of guitars, bass, and drums. Massacre of the Saxons is really just a reworked Bloody Verdict of Verden from the first album, which was the best track.

I give this 7.5 out of 10. Skip the first album, just go with this.

No doubt you worked out it's about Charlemagne, and it's kinda like intellectual metal. Different singers portray different figures, with Lee as one of 2 Charlemagne voices.

Listen to it. Really.

Anyone else into metal?

Yo! Gravedigging this because metal is the best genre (I tried to work a Children of the Grave pun in there, but couldn't think of one). I didn't like Lee's album, honestly- though for 90-something years old, it's pretty damn impressive.

I have a fairly varied music taste, and listen to anything from post-hardcore (not metal, I know), to black metal. My favorite bands at the moment are Amon Amarth, Woods of Ypres and Pierce the Veil.

I love metal. Mainly I stick to the greats (Metallica, Megadeth, etc) but I do have every song by Slipknot. I think they're awesome!

Metallica are one of the most overrated bands in the genre, in my opinion. Two, three decent songs, tops.

I have a fair broad in music, but narrower in metal. I like classic stuff (Maiden, Sabbath, a little Priest), more modern stuff in QOTSA, System and such, through to some of the folksy sub genres, your pirates (Alestorm) and your Vikings (Turisas). I dabble in power metal (Sonata Arctica) and a little nu-metal (old skool Korn). I detest, for the the most part, bands who use what I dub harsh vocals, you know the ones who scream and growl all the time. However, some good exceptions from that are Amon Amarth, Finntroll, and Eluveitie, because beneath the growls, the music is different and interesting, as opposed to just noise

Metallica/Megadeth: Good but overrated.
Slipknot: Meh.
Maiden/Sabbath: Good.
QOTSA: What does that stand for? I can't think of it.
System: Fracklesmorfing awesome.
Alestorm: Meh.
Turisas: Haven't heard of them before.
Sonata Arctica: Only heard one or two songs by them, but they seem pretty good.
Korn: Ew.

I like metal most when it incorporates a mix of clean/harsh vocals. And I mean actual clean vocals- not the sort of grumbly Metallica sound. "Forget Not" by Ne Obliviscaris is a good example of clean vocals I like.

QOTSA means Queens of the Stone Age to me, at any rate.

I'm a bit of a dinosaur, musically. I was a fan of Deep Purple (GIllan/Blackmore/Paice/Glover/Lord line-up especially). I also liked Nazareth, Judas Priest, early Scorpions.

Just started listening to Ne Obliviscaris last night, they're amazing.

I was going to buy some Xasthur/Nocturnal Poisoning CDs just because they're almost gone, but then I remembered I haven't liked Xasthur much for a few months, at least, and NP can be boring at times.

I'm not a big metal fan. The heaviest I'll go is Zeppelin, early Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix. I like 60s and 70s pop and the oddities of the Kinks.

I love metal. I don't mind harsh vocals, but it really has to have good guitar to make me want to listen to it again. Good example: The Light That Blinds by Shadows Fall. Nothing but harsh vocals, but the guitar is amazing. One of my favorite songs. For the most part, though, I like a mix of clean and harsh vocals. Perfect example of this would be King For A Day by Pierce The Veil. Probably my favorite song. I also like some classics like Sabbath and Metallica, though too.

I'm not a huge metalhead, but it's probably my favourite genre to see live. Metal and gutter punk. Especially love the folk stuff - Alestorm, Turisas, Dropkick Murphys, Mudmen. I hit up my first metal festival in years this summer, and say what you will, Metallica has a pretty badass stage presence.

The only 'metal' band I really like is Led Zeppelin but even Robert Plant disagrees with that label as he said a third of Led Zeppelin's music is acosutic

From the looks of your signature, you're a Rammstein fan, I take it? I used to be a huge Rammstein fan. Ich Tu Dir Weh, Keine Lust, and Rosenrot were my favorites. Now, I'm big in to 80s music. My girlfriend got me Every Breath You Take: The Classics, which is a CD of The Police's greatest hits. The Police are my favorite band. Definitely not metal. But to me, they're a damn good band.

Black Dog is about as close to metal as I listen to these days, which is a great Zeppelin song. That and Kashmir. Two great Zeppelin songs, and also Stairway to Heaven.

I'm partial to Bron y Aur Stomp by Zep.

I do like a spot of Rammstein. Sonne was the first I heard. It was a time when I was more used to Here Comes the Sun by Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. Though I do still listen to that stuff.

I despise that kind of 80s pop music. And a lot of 90s pop. The stuff on the radio when I was growing up. It just isn't my cup of tea

Eh, the definition of "metal" seems to shift from time to time. Back in the 70s Zeppelin were referred to as "metal", alongside Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. Hell, Black Sabbath, of all the groups, is apparently on the border between metal and simple hard rock these days for some people - and I even remember, a few years ago, talking to a rather cute girl who informed me that Iron Maiden and Judas Priest aren't metal either, and who actually got mad when I contested the very notion. Needless to say the conversation ended soon thereafter, but the point still stands - it's a bit of a grey area. :P

I listen to Amon Ra, Cult of Luna, Steak number eight, barst, Brutus, O negative, Mono and Faith No More.
But I am not a metal head. I "discovered " metal in 2015.
Will listen to almost anything not r&b, Dutch or Schlager.
