UN Space Guard
A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Unity Base

Description: In these days of high technology, spacefaring nations are beginning to outnumber non-spacefaring ones, there is a greater chance of armed conflict in the harsh void we call space. This resolution is to enable the creation of a Space Guard to guard against rogue groups who would prey on the innocent. They would also be used to protect fledgeling space nations from destruction, and police the spacelanes to enforce all UN resolutions, both present and future, dealing with the expansion and development of this last great unknown.

For the initiation of this resolution, the UN agrees to complete the following:
1. Ensure that each spacefaring nation agrees to set aside at least 1% of their budget to the funding of the above said Space Guard
2. Give the Guard the power to protect any nation whose space program does not include more than 10 spacecraft, civilian or otherwise
3. Give the Guard the power to enforce all accepted UN resolutions dealing with extraplanetary matters
4. And recognize the Guard's power to hunt down and bring to justice the common enemies of the UN, ranging from any nation who is in military conflict with current UN forces to rogue pirates who would prey on the free traders of the spacelanes.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 139 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Wed Nov 17 2004

This is at the very end of the proposals, but if anybody knows delegates who would support this, please do!
